All best plans . . . the internet was down last night when I tried to post. Today I have A Touch of Color freebie for you. Okay, white isn't a color per se, but the combination of all colors, but we aren't going to get technical, are we? Here are the papers:

Touch of Color: Silver freebie

So, did you do any Black Friday shopping? and if so, did you get real bargains? Today is Cyber Monday so still lots of sales going on. I've about finished but have some restaurant gift cards to pick up and need to visit Barnes & Noble for some books for grand-daughter. Friday and Saturday I was worn out and didn't get anything done. Sunday spent some hours at Dad's visiting with June & packaged up some of the Christmas kit. This time I'm going to do just one T.O.U. that will credit all resources I might have used. That way, you can eliminate a little bulk by only keeping the first info folder and deleting the others. It's surprising how much hard drive space is taken up by extra folders, repeat TOUs (where designers just use a general one with a separate credits page), piracy graphics, store graphics designers are required to add, and previews of other products for advertising.
Let's end November with a Touch of Color - Silver. You might find this little stash useful to fill in your holiday layouts.

Oops! Think I forgot to post this freebie?

In recovering from my trip to Atlantic City, I think I forgot to post the elements to A Touch Of Color_Purple?
Link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/Wd-SQ_cJce/ws_TouchOfPurple_elements.html? I know, I could go back and check but lots on my mind at the moment, so will just post.
June "rang the bell" last week, ending her radiation treatments. She's got some radiation burns to recover from and is extremely tired but things look hopeful. We are in something of a dither here as we get everything set for my husband to retire at the end of December. There are choices to be made regarding his pension, papers to file, social security to be dealt with and so on. It's all kind of frightening as we look toward what 2016 will bring. Halloween is approaching fast but it's no big deal here. I'll put out my witch flag and either climb into the attic to find the wooden witch sign I made years ago or just go with a glitter tinsel pumpkin I don't have to track down. We live on a busy street and don't get trick-or-treaters anymore. People take their children to events at local schools, churches and malls now. I had thought I wouldn't make another Halloween scrap kit because I've made so many over the years when I worked for stores. However, I know some of you are very much into the holiday so I decided to play around with some resources I'd collected and maybe make a few things like borders or clusters. Being anxious about all the stuff going on here, I ended up doing a lot of playing with the files I pulled so you will be getting a Halloween Treat kit and a bunch of little themed freebies. Made a bunch of previews last night but still need to pack things up and load to 4shared. Off to start cooking dinner now but expect to be back on tonight and add at least one little Halloween freebie for you. Before I sign off, a note to friend Stacey. I am so sorry to hear of your loss and further bad news about your relative. It's a trying time for you and doesn't help that you are ill too. Sending prayers and healing hugs your way. Hope you feel better soon!

Never again!

This weekend I was reminded of a trip we took to Busch Gardens when my son was in elementary school. Jeremy wanted to ride the log flume. We tried telling him he really wasn't ready for it yet but he persisted. So we went over and made him watch and listen for awhile. He still insisted on going. My husband took the front seat so he'd be the one to get most drenched. I sat behind him and made Jeremy sit between my legs so I could hold onto him. All was well as we made the first couple gentle dips but then when we came to the first big drop, he screamed, "Don't you ever let me do this again!" Nothing to do but tell him to yell and scream with him. What does this have to do with my weekend just past? My Red Hat chapter decided it would be fun to take a bus trip to Atlantic City. For $65 we got a seat on the bus and when we arrived received a $30 game credit and a $20 meal credit. Sounds pretty good, huh? But bear in mind that all of us were over 50, actually all over 60 but for our Pink Hatter. Six of the chapter went plus one husband. We left Norfolk at 7am, stopped for 20 minutes on Eastern Shore for a McDonald breakfast and a couple hours later had a 10 minute stop at a WaWa for bathroom break and to grab a sandwich or snack if we liked. A lot of people slept, or tried to sleep on the way to and from. Got into Atlantic City at 2pm. We grouped, split up and regrouped throughout our visit but by about 10 pm we were all worn out and ready to go home. But the bus didn't come back until 12 am and didn't leave until 1 am. It was seriously miserable on way home - most of us in pain from one or another of our health problems and all exhausted, even the few who had managed to get some sleep on the way up. When Mary's husband dropped me off at home, I spent maybe 30 minutes talking to hubby then crashed. Sunday was totally lost and I didn't do much on Monday, just a little laundry. We won't be doing that again! I'd be back in bed again now (it is just after midnight), only I didn't want to cook so we had pizza delivered and I've got indigestion!
And now for the freebie:
this morning the papers; elements on Wednesday. Hope you like! Link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/MRuNsLb9ba/ws_TouchOfPurple_papers.html?

What a Day! and Touch Of Color freebie

What a day: didn't sleep well last night so it was a struggle to get up but I had an 11:00 am appointment to fit my new contact lens (hard gas-permeable). I barely made it to the office on time and then had trouble opening my car door. Unlock, push, still closed. After playing with lock several times, I was able to get out of the car. When I checked in, I was told my appointment was for 1:40 pm! Apparently I was remembering the original appointment time for Friday when I had to cancel. Too much time to sit there, not enough to go all the way home. So I drove up to Pembroke and went into the K-Mart there but they didn't have items I was looking for. I did have a book with me, so headed down the street to Wendy's and got an early lunch. Back to eye doc and again trouble with car door. Playing with the lock worked so I figured I'd just have to get my BIL to check it for me at earliest convenience. Picked up contacts and they fit pretty good. Not uncomfortable for first day of wear in over a year. So, I'll just stop at Walmart on the way home, I thought. I wanted to pick up a full zip sweatshirt jacket - nothing fancy - so WalMart seemed a good choice. I get out of the car, hit the door lock and shut the door. No, door just bounced, refused to close. Played with the electronic key fob lock switch, played with the manual switch - no go. Not about to leave the car open. Messed around with the part of lock I could see in the door edge using fingers to try to get it to move, using old key, no go. And doesn't it figure? I'd left my cell phone home because I'd been charging it and was in too much of a hurry when leaving to grab it. What to do? I got back in and tried to put seatbelt through door handle and then fasten it but it wouldn't go that far. Finally, knowing there was a Pep Boys just a couple businesses over & same side of road, I looped the seatbelt through door handle multiple times, pulled it tight and slowly drove over to Pep Boys. Not easy but got there safely. After better than an hour and $50 debited to my credit card, I was able to get in, close door and drive home. They'd had to take the door panel off to unjam the latch, loosened and lubed it. Skipped picking up presriptions because I'd called and left word for husband and didn't want him to be on way to me. Instead, I find him on phone, arguing with Health Equity. Seems the Health Equity account he'd been talked into through his company, has monthly fees once account is below certain level. No one had told us about this. Also, they wanted to charge him a $25 maintence fee just to close it out! Righteous indignation and persistence won out in the end with them agreeing to send him a check for remaining balance and waive fees. Just wait until he tells the other employees about this at Union meeting. Now I'm going to post your Touch Of Color_Red elements and call this day quits. Take out food tonight and TV.

New week and another freebie

It has been gloomy and raining for days now due to meeting of a Nor'Easter and Hurricane Joachim. Poor South Carolina! They have major problems due to these storms. We have been lucky. Lots of flooding in low lying areas (& most of Norfolk qualifies) due to above normal tides (as much as 6 ft above normal) have got everything over saturated. I haven't had to go out since Thursday and the water wasn't bad then so I've been lucky save for the migraine I had on Friday. My house is dry and undamaged and I'm very thankful. Following a migraine I'm not worth much in terms of doing anything. Did manage to catch the laundry up yesterday evening but that is about it. Hubby was in the mood to cook this weekend and asked for suggestion on Friday. I thought beef stew sounded comforting, so he went out early yesterday morning, got a couple things he needed and filled the crockpot almost to overflowing. Stew for dinner last night and again today. Yummy and no cooking for me. The only other thing I did was work on some bookmarks for Banned Books Week. Turns out DigiChick is doing a hybrid challenge this month that is for bookmarks, so I've created a couple using their designer's work. Planned to post those tonight but upon printing out one page, I discovered I had somehow reversed the text so need to do those again. Your freebie for today is A Touch Of Color_ Red. Papers.
As you can see, I'm not fond of basic red but prefer darker variations so that's what you get this time. Link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/L7mg031Lce/ws_ATouchOfRed_paper.html?

Rain, rain and more to come? & Touch Of Color freebie

Things are pretty soggy here. Some areas have flooding from a tropical storm that was off the coast bringing high tides and wind. That storm didn't hit us directly but we've been getting rain 0ff and on. Today it rained most of the time. News is now saying that another tropical storm off the coast is gaining strength and is expected to become a category 2 hurricane. Just lovely. And because I didn't do some running today, I will have to tomorrow. Not looking forward to working around flooded sections. But, what can you do? Norfolk is bordered by some major rivers and the Chesapeake Bay, not to mention all the little creeks etc.
I was just browsing through the photos of the dresses worn to the big Met gala. The things some people will wear just because they are called "fashion" or were created by big name dress designers. Unbelievable! There were some seriously weird and wacky designs worn. Some looked pretty uncomfortable too. And then there is the bare as much as you dare trend. I'm not just knocking it because I don't have the figure to wear those barely there gowns. I mean, I wouldn't wear them if I had the perfect body. Seems like exhibitionism, doesn't it? What's next? Women walking into the gala wearing nothing but their makeup and jewelry? Oh, and those bad-for-the-feet, incrediably high Jimmy Choo etc shoes. Whatever happened to class? Okay, off that soapbox.
Today, I've got more Touch Of Color for you. This time it's brown.

New week and a little freebie

It's the end of September and the start of a new week. I'm optomistic that this week will be better than last. No appointments scheduled although I got a message my contacts are in so will have to schedule a fitting for those. I managed to finish up a number of Touch Of Color packages over the last couple days so I'll get those scheduled to go out to you. I plan to spend this week cleaning and getting things together for my Red Hat excursion on the 10th. I intend to pace myself but seriously want to get beyond the usual weekly "To Do"s and into excavating the computer room where a lot of overflow ended up while Rachel was here. Also need to go into the back bedroom/craft room and clean up all the stuff I dropped off in there while I was running around so much. Got to organize and contain all those Red Hat fascinator etc supplies. Big plans; just hope the body holds up! Meanwhile, I thought you might like to have some bows to go with the Color Touch packages that have already posted?
Link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/m8uuXvefba/ws_ATouchOfColor_Bows.html? The next four packages coming up are: brown, lavender, purple, red. Once I've loaded those plus an undetermined fifth, I'll provide another package of bows for those colors. Hugs!

Another Week half through and Another Freebie - Think Pink!

Last week was so busy and chaotic! Nothing seemed to go as planned. Thursday evening we went to dinner at Pirates Cove in Chesapeake with my Aunt Sissy and her boyfriend, John, a former co-worker of my husband. The she-crab soup was yummy if a bit too peppery. My flounder was a huge piece and looked so pretty but it tasted more fishy than flounder usually does and the breading didn't seem to have any flavor at all. I liked the hushpuppies best. But if I was disappointed in my dinner, we have to remember I'm not big on seafood. The guys got huge sampler platters and raved about everything. My Aunt got a large Greek salad with a crabcake on top. That crabcake was hamburger size and full of lump crabmeat rather than all the breading most have. She was so happy with that! Friday morning I took my husband over to the hospital to get his nuclear stress test. But it turned out to be wrong hospital and as a result he won't have test until Decemeber and we will have to pay for missed appointment. And from there on to Joyce's house where we were going to have a class on making fascinators from deco mesh. Joyce had coffee and tea ready for us along with cookies and mini scones. After a little caffeine, Karla showed us what to do and we made fascinators for the upcoming Snowball Express. Typical me, I had to complicate things by wanting to use not only the white deco mesh I'd bought but also a wired red ribbon of smaller width. It did turn out beautifully though! Will have to get a photo and show you. Then we had lunch - Mary had brought barbeque stuff for sandwiches and chips and I brought dessert - iced brownies. Don't know what set it off - nothing we could determine - but when Mary and I left, we both had headaches and some chest tightness, which we passed off to sinuses reacting to weather changes. I was sick by the time I got home - headache and stomach pain with nausea. Went to bed and it was hubby's birthday! I was doing pretty well next day however, while Mary had a 3 day migraine and respiratory infection! Saturday we were supposed to meet some people hubby worked with for lunch but BIL came by and wanted to take care of some work we needed help with. Bless him, he patched the roof and explored the situation. Not nails in shingles at all but the nails used to fasten down the wood over the rafters, popping up and pushing shingles up. Weird. He fixed everything he could see but we might have to have another roof put on over this one. BIL also worked on hubby's computer and put a new battery in the car we are holding on to for grandson. Really appreciate all that help! So Saturday night I took hubby out for his b'day dinner. Ynot Italian in Chesapeake makes a dish he loves called Fruitti de Mare (fruit of the sea) - pasta with a marina sauce filled with multiple types of seafood. Only they have stopped offering it so we had to work up something comparable. Got pizza rolls as appetizer. Granted, we were expecting something like we get from Glory's Bakery and these were nothing like that. Looked good but dough was tough, very oily, and worst of all too much garlic! Hubby loves garlic and for him to say it was too much says a lot. Between Friday and Saturday, I have had to stay away from spicey, oily, and garlicky foods for some days. But it is all getting better. Yada, yada, where is the freebie?
How about both papers and elements tonight? http://www.4shared.com/zip/9iaKT0D0ce/ws_ATouchOfColor_Pink_elements.html? http://www.4shared.com/zip/6Y3TMsGsba/ws_ATouchOfColor_Pink_papers.html? Think I actually have a day free tomorrow to get some housework done! Hugs!

Freebie - Touch of Blue_Cobalt - elements

Long day! 10am roofer arrived to look at roof. Says there are a lot of "nail pop-ups" to be fixed. A few minutes for 1/2 cup coffee and insurance man arrives. Roof problem considered "normal wear & tear" and not covered by policy. Ceiling damage estimated at a little over $1,000. After deductible I get check for $742. Time for a bathroom break then I sit down at PC to finish my coffee and doorbell rings again! It was Dad and June on way back from radiation therapy. Had to look up a tax form for Dad, packed up some more of John's homemade chicken soup for June and we visited for awhile. Then it's time to finish up my now cold coffee and head to bank and grocery store. I want to use my home equity loan to pay roofer but am out of the checks. Since I don't have a specific amount I need, checks have to be ordered and will take 10 days. However, if I get a firm quote, I can go back to bank and they will draft a check for needed amount. I decided I'd pop into one of the nearby thrift stores to see if they might have something dressy in red I can wear to the Snowball Express in December. Since I''m not a size 8-10 anymore, it's not easy to find nice thrift clothes in my size and I don't want to spend a lot on something I'll wear once. Nope, no red bargains. However, I found a lovely black velvet gown with beading that should fit and I got excited thinking I could use it for the "Black and Bling" night at upcoming Cary event. Found a purple shirt with thin gold stripe that should fit so that's another for my Red Hat wardrobe. Then I saw the cutest vintge hat. It's one of those open work hats that were popular netween 30's - 50's. Black velvet with some dusty purple moire. This could work with the black dress. I'm so pleased that the total is only $27! Later, as I e-mailed Mary to confirm our Hobby Lobby shopping trip, I'm telling her about my finds and it hits me - the Cary event will be in the summer! BLack velvet sure won't work. Oh well. I'm sure some other Red Hat event will come up I can use it for lol. And now those Cobalt elements:

Quick freebie post - A Touch of Orange

Quick post as I am so behind in all I should be doing. Spent hours yesterday working on ideas for a new tradition for grooms or, more specifically, a tradition I could start for my son. But more about that in another post. Today I've got A Touch Of Color freebie for you - a warm color - orange! This is not a go-to color for me. Orange is too bold and vibrant for my tastes, although I do like soft peach and soft corals. Anyway, if orange is your color, I hope there is something here you will like.
4 full size papers and 9 elements. Personal use only, please. Papers here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/9uWsXH4fba/ws_ATouchOfOrange_papers.html? Elements here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/lVgqz33Fba/ws_ATouchOfOrange_elements.html?

A new freebie set coming A Touch Of Color

Busy week here. While I'm deciding what I'd like to do next digi wise, I thought I'd start of series of color themed packages. Don't know about you, but sometimes I' looking for a pop of a certain color and have found it helps to have some folders that are sorted by color. Under Sher Scraps 4 CU, I made color sets previously that were CU. Since I'm not selling at this time but may in future, I'm making some mini color sets that will include a few papers in a color along with a number of elements in that color. The ones I'll be offering on the blog are listed under Wonderland Scraps and will be free for personal use. If anyone should wish to be able to use them commercially, I will sell under ss4cu for $3.00 per set. Just contact me at quiltwrite2000@yahoo.com with SS4CU in subject line, tell me which of the sets you want and I will send you a preview showing CU and a tou to that effect. One color I don't use often but decided to start with here is yellow. It came to mind while discussing wedding colors with son and his fiance. They are having a beach wedding and he knows he wants blue and khaki but she hasn't made up her mind what other color to use for bridesmaids and accents. Thought she might want a touch of a warm color and offered suggestions of her signature pink, coral and yellow. Yellow is a warm color that looks good with blues and suits a hot beach theme. So, You are going to get a yellow package first, lol.
There are 4 full size papers here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/LVSyayIPce/ws_ATouchOfYellow_papers.html? and nine elements here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/jLTDpOtTce/ws_ATouchOfYellow_elements.html? BTW have you tried the free game, Gummy Drop at Big Fish Games? It's addictive! http://www.bigfishgames.com/games/9931/world-saga/?pc
