Running Late & freeie

Just got back from North Carolina where we went to see our grandson and his wife in their new house. Tyler made us some delicious smoked barbeque and Sally made some good mac 'n cheese and potato wedges. Anyway, here is the rest of your Mardi Gras kit.

Mardi Gras is March 1 - freebie

Do you celebrate Mardi Gras? Do you know that the words literally mean (in French) Fat Tuesday? It is a day to feast before the start of Lent. Here in the United States, Mardi Gras is most famously celebrated in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have never been but my brother has and described it in detail, even sending me a King Cake and souvenier tee shirt the year he was in the city working. I'm told it is rather a wild celebration with everyone drinking, eating rich foods, dressing in costume, watching lavish parades put on by Crewes, trying to catch the colored beads that are thrown, dancing in the street - in short, partying hardy. I've put together a mini kit for you using the traditional New Orleans colors of purple, green, and yellow (for gold). Part one today and the rest on Saturday. So you will be ready just in case you want to celebrate. There is also a larger Mardi Gras 2022 kit in my store at Magnolia Gardens with different stuff. Here is your preview:

It costs $3.50 if anyone is interested.

It's been a full week but I have a little freebie for today.

I rarely have more than 2 appointments or commitments of any kind in a week but this week there was something every day ! Granted along with doctor appointments and household related stuff, there were two lunches out - one with my husband's retirement group, one with my friends. The first was very quiet for the most part. We went to Joe's Crab Shack and there were only 2 employees! A cook and a waitress doing everything else. But the waitress was wonderful and the food good. Company could have been livlier but . . . . On the other hand, my group was on the wild side. Started off when I announced where the mext lunch would be. One of the ladies spoke up in a loud, rude tone to say she wouldn't be going as she doesn't like the place. I knew part of her problem related to thinking the place is too expensive (she did eventually say as much). I was ready for that objection and was able to compare prices and selections with other places we go. She was on a tear! But I just said, "I'm sorry you won't go. We will miss you" and changed the subject. She then abashedly stated she was in a bad mood. Later on, at the end of the day, we learned that one of her daughters has had another stroke and some bloodclots too. Understandable bad mood. And we are okay, spoke yesterday. Past the debacle of restaurant choice, there was the usual talk about Covid and whether the government is controlling us. We have a couple people into conspiracy theories. Ugh! I finally got people on a more pleasing subject - books and movies. Sorry for babble! Today I've put together some vintage children's Valentines. The preview doesn't show the sizes accurately. They range from a couple inches to 6" tall. I trimmed them up some and was able to fix some age flaws but I did not change colors. You would be able to do some changes if you want the colors to go better with papers and elements.

My Little Valentine, Magnolia Gardens etc

I've been suggesting you stop by Magnolia Gardens Scraps to check the store out but in case you haven't, I thought I'd share a link to our newsletter which will give you some idea of the goodies the store holds. (Doesn't cost anything to look.) You, of course, know my work but you might not be familiar with some of the other designers. Link: https://madmimi.com/p/2181831?pact=19141-166567576-4393363279-b1d707bcbb91ad828420c492669fa3c5a8ac6297&fbclid=IwAR1u2QSB1ODKOnQMGSgU16Q9D5HlSdIkoLH4tiPqozzHVLiKDre1W3FkRYo If you click on any of the links you will notice we have lots of sales going on. Today is the last of My Little Valentine but I think I may do a little add on in the way of vintage children's Valentines you could use to accessorize.

Continuing My Little Valentine

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble getting the downloads through Foxfire but it seems to be a somewhat widespread problem. That is, I've gone to other sites where I've been warned to use other than Foxfire, I used to use it a lot but now I stick with Google Chrome. Anyway, we are about midway through My Little Valentine and I've been preoccupied with matters other than digi scrap so I can't say what is next.

I hope I won't offend anyone by making this appeal

but small businesses every where are hurting. I realize many people rely on digital scrapbook freebies due to financial restraints. Believe me, I understand. However, if any of you do occasionally make purchases I would like to recommend my friend's store, Magnolia Gardens Scraps. It is fairly new so many people haven't heard of it. It really is worth a visit and not just because I sell there. In fact, this is not about me at all. The thing is, the store is struggling to stay afloat which is a shame because unlike many stores, prices are reasonable for the most part. There might be a few designers with higher priced goods but most have frequent sales and many of us offer lower prices than you will see elsewhere. There are many talented designers and great designs. Also many products at just $1.00! I'd like to appeal to my friends here to stop by and take a look and if you can spend a dollar - bless you. https://www.magnoliagardensscraps.com/ As an example, here is a kit I couldn't resist buying myself.
I just loved the characters and decided it would be perfect to make my Valentine example for the Just Art ATC challenge this month. Sure, I most often use my own kits but sometimes I want to play with something different.
