First, my heart & prayers go out to those in the Twin Cities area where violence broke out yesterday. I just heard a news report saying that the instigators were not from the local area! I regard this as an act of terrorism on our soil, an attempt to stir up racial tension and take advantage of an atmosphere of anxiety, financial hardships, and anger. Isn't it bad enough we have had such devastation to our physical and mental health due to the current pandemic? And why stir up racial tension anyway? Sure, there is a historical basis but it is really ridiculous to think in terms of race. "Race" is just a social construct used to explain differences in appearance and ethnic backgrounds. Scientists have shown that the oldest human DNA was found in Africa and the apparent differences we see among "races" are the results of evolutionary conditioning to environmental factors and cultural training. Ethnicity makes sense, race doesn't. Sorry, a little sociological rant. BTW, last night, here in Virginia, protesters got up on the interstate outside the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and blocked off traffic. Helpful to anything? NOT!

On to brighter things. I asked about flowers you might want in digital form and a dear reader from The Netherlands introduced me to a new flower, Astrantia Major Buckland (Zeeuws Knoopje in Dutch). I love to research so set to it immediately. Among other things, I learned that there are many varieties of this flower and it is called by multiple names, including Masterwort. Here is what Wikipedia says:
Astrantia is a genus of herbaceous plants in the family Apiaceae, endemic to Central, Eastern and Southern Europe and the Caucasus. There are 8 or 9 species, which have aromatic roots, palmate leaves, and decorative flowers.
The flowers can be described as star-like with a center area resembling a delicate pincushion. It took a while to find clipart or images easy to extract, but I managed to find a few. Never did find one with Buckland as part of the name and not knowing the color, didn't know how elese to find it.Not sure if this is what's wanted but the best I can find. I also learned this flower is a popular motif in Dutch jewelry.

Vintage Birds freebie

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well. Things are opening up around the country which feels like an improvement but we will have to wait and see if this triggers another round of Covid_19. I am so tired of hearing people gripe about having to wear a mask and their "rights." I don't think anyone is enjoying the experience but please, why does anyone right supersede the good of the many? It's such a small thing we can do to help everyone stay safe. My husband and I have been using little cloth masks - the idea being it was more economical to have something washable and reusable. But since we both have breathing difficulties the masks make it more difficult. Plus, I gave up my contact lens long ago and now get my glasses fogged up. Also bought a small amount of disposable masks for rough respiratory days and just ordered a couple face shields while they are still relatively cheap to see if we tolerate those better.

I did get my lumbar epidural on the 19th. First couple of days I has spasms down my spine but that is perhaps because of the position I was in during the procedure. At this point, I think it is fair to say I got maybe 10- 20 % benefit if that. Don't seem to be having problems on left side but the right is pretty painful.

Anyway, I decided to extract some vintage bird illustrations. Thought they might brighten up a page or two and since the original jpeg would be considered public domain, I haven't bothered with a TOU. Hope you can find a use for these.

Spring Thing 2

Visit to doc yesterday was mostly good. All except a low grade fever which I'm to monitor for a couple days and if it persists call office to have chest x-ray set up. But lungs sounded clear and nothing wrong with throat. Probably just a fluke.

Having some major trouble with PC and no longer have a friendly PC guru. (Not in contact with BIL any more). Frantically trying to burn major resources to discs.

It has been forever but now a new freebie - Spring Thing

It's all probably old age related but still taking it easy with minor little complaints. See my doc tomorrow; bet he will say all good. Except maybe those sharp little pains at breast bone that come and go?

Anyway, new Spring freebie.
