February nearly gone and a small freebie

Hard to believe this is already the last full week of another month. I've been busy with family stuff and am just now finding time and energy to work on getting the house back in order. Today is my SIL, Paula's birthday. Happy Birthday Paula!

I'm already behind in my reading plan. I've completed reading 1370 pages but that is only 4 books. I'm reading two now and should be able to finish those by the end of the month but that leaves me 2 short. The Victoria: a Life got me bogged down. No matter how one tries to write an intimate biography of Queen Victoria, you can't avoid getting into the historical events of her time and the politics. And since Victoria was intimately connected to so many of the ruling families of her day, that's an awful lot of history and politics. It doesn't help that royals and lords often changed names when acquiring various ranks. Sorry, that is badly put, but I hope it makes some sense.

How are you doing on your monthly goals? Considering the way January ended, I didn't set any hard goals for this month. Just get taxes finished by end of the first week (completed 2/2!), get hair cut & styled ( not yet), and repot the holiday plants (finally done yesterday).

Hope you have been enjoying your Valentine treat. I've got two more small freebies for you to go with Love Tweet Love. Today, some simple word art. And I do mean simple:

One more tomorrow and then 6 days of February to go. What will I come up with?

Romantic Papers freebie

When this posts, I will be at Go Red for Women, a regional Red Hat Society event in support of women's heart health. We will put aside our purple attire and wear all (or mostly) red. There will be all sorts of red hats, especially ones with a heart theme and I'm looking forward to seeing all the creativity that goes into these.

At the end of the week the Mid Atlantic Quilt Show will be in Hampton, just over the river from me. I used to go every year with my dear friends Sandy R., her sister, Wanda C and sometimes my Mom and Aunt Suzy. But Mom passed away, Aunt Suzy lives on Eastern Shore and isn't in good health. Sandy moved to Georgia and Wanda lives in Amelia County - a good distance away. If I go it will be by myself and I'm not likely to stay long as walking on those concrete floors in crowds wears me out. Still, it's something different to do. I should mention that I haven't quilted in a good while. Big projects are out but I do want to get back into doing some crazy quilting. That I can work on a block at a time.

Meanwhile, since my step-daughter and grand-daughter, Larkin are back in our lives, I am busily crocheting. Lisa & Larkin saw my fingerless mitts and said they would like some. I haven't been to the store to get purple yarn for Lisa's yet but Larkin wants blue. I had some soft, fluffy baby yarn in blue with flecks of beige and white here and there and thought I could make her little mitts with that but the yarn is hard to work with. Ended up making Larkin (she's just 5) a scarf and will get some regular blue to do her mitts. Just completed a pair in natural beige for my SIL in Florida and have got to mail those off. I love to crochet when I'm watching TV. That way it doesn't feel as much like I'm wasting time lol. There are a number of babies around just now and I bought some clips to make pacifier keepers for Issac (he's 6 months), Miss June's niece's expected baby, and Liv's expected great grand-daughter.

These Tweet Sweet papers were made sometime after the Love Tweet Love kit.

How about some free Valentine themed page templates?

Looking through my files I found a set of page templates I had made that have a Valentine's theme and thought I'd share them with you. Page template files are rather large so there will be 2 zips to download for these 4 templates.

Last of the Love Tweet Love free papers

Here they are:
If you have collected all the papers, you should have 20.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I hope you will be doing something special and can use this kit to scrap about it.

Just adding a note to say that we got good news at the hospital on 2/9. My husband's arteries are clear - no blockages and his heart is healthy. Doctor said the dark spot on heart seen in nuclear stress test was an artifact probably caused by fatty tissue blocking that area in the scan. Whew!

Super Bowl Sunday and new Valentine freebies

It's Super Bowl Sunday and many people are busy getting together the snacks for their party. I am not a football fan. It all seems kind of brutal to me, a bunch of guys running around and ramming into one another and landing in a heap. I have learned a little about the game being married to a die hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan, with son and grandson fans of the Redskins. Grandson, Tyler, is very competitive and a day spent with him and my hubby as cheer on or complain about the way a football game is going is not for me. Today hubby will make his chili cheese dip and watch the festivities by himself as son is out of state and grandson in Massenutten tubing. As for me, I'm going to try to get some chores done, update my reading challenge info, start a new book, and set up a few posts in advance. This is going to be a busy week: hubby goes to heart pavilion on 2/9 and we have been told to prepare to be there all day and that is if all goes well and he doesn't have to stay. 2/10 I'm supposed to take June back to her cardiologist for another possible adjustment of pacemaker if I don't need to be with John. I've heard most people see a dramatic improvement after getting a pacemaker but we have not seen in with June. 2/11 will be catch up day and then 2/12 there is a Red Hat luncheon with my local group.

After running on about my week, I should get on with starting your Love Tweet Love freebies. There will be 4 zips of papers (20 Papers) and 44 elements. I made new previews so you can see what each zip contains. Today zip 1 of the papers:

More freebies and news

Last night was rough due to gastro paresis and sinus headache. Still have headache now but did get out to do a little running around. Went to Dollar Deals to see if there was anything cool for Mardi Gras or St. Patrick's day or Valentines' Day. My Red Hat group will be going to a local icon restaurant, called Mary's, for our monthly meeting and our Queen Mary said we could swap out Red Hat for Mardi Gras theme if we would like. My wide brimmed red hat drives me crazy so I bought a silly plastic Mardi Gras crown at Dollar Deals and I will wear that with my purple, shawl collared top and some Mardi Gras beads. Found some tiny little green plastic leprechaun hats that I will doll up with ribbon and feathers and make a fascinator for St. Patrick's Day. Didn't find anything I felt I could use for Valentine's Day but that is okay. Have to go out to Hobby Lobby one day soon anyway. Next stop was my favorite thrift store. Did pretty well there and for just a little a little over $4.00 came away with 3 hardback recent bestsellers (0.75 each), a small heart shaped pan (0.45), and the cutest little Indian silk crossbody bag in a sort of fushia pink with gold accents. The little purse will go to grand-daughter, Larkin, who is a tall 5.5 years old. I was looking for some girly coloring books to keep on hand for the grand-daughters but Dollar Deals didn't have any coloring books so I next stopped in Big Lots. No go on that so on to Food Lion to pick up a few things. Saw a dear friend at Food Lion and talked for awhile, then shopped, came home and here I am. Guess I was gone about three hours. Got my walking in for sure and it lifted my mood.

Got some more bad news yesterday morning. The minor news was finding out that the monument company that made the double headstone for my MIL in 2007 has gone out of business. Her original purchase price, paid in full when ordered, was to include having her name and dates put on when she died. Husband had to call around locally and find another company to do that. The first and worst news came when we visited the cardiologist. My husband's nuclear stress test a couple months back had been inconclusive but appeared to show some damage. We were told by the cardiologist that my husband had a "silent heart attack" at some point in the past. We learned that heart attacks for diabetics aren't the same as for people without diabetes and diabetics are more likely to have heart attacks. On 2/9 I will take him to the Heart Hospital in Norfolk to have a cardiac catherterization. Since he has damage to his legs due to diabetes, the doctor will do this through his wrist. If he finds a minor blockage, he may be able to put a stent in right then and will just keep my husband over night. But it is possible they might find more extensive damage, like blockage in all 3 major arteries. Keep fingers crossed and, if you would, offer a prayer for John's well being. I appreciate it.

Sorry for pouring out my worries but we dare not tell my SIL about this heart problem. She is doing well but would almost certainly lose it if she had to worry over her brother right now.

And so, now we finally get to the goodies!

There is one more Motocross Fun freebie which will post tomorrow. Two more A Purple Pause zips will post tomorrow and Thursday. I think with all that is going on right now that I will not try to create a new Valentine's Day kit but will instead give you the last Valentine's Day kit I sold, "Love, Tweet Love." I used that kit to make this month's blog header and also the monthly goal pages. That will start on Friday. Hope it will please you.

Hugs!
