Almost Monday so Monday freebie
It's been raining all day today (Sunday) and I've had a sinus headache all day. Tomorrow is going to be busy so thought I'd go ahead and do Monday post. Want you to know I've really enjoyed reading your comments and I'm glad I decided to put something together for Halloween.
Next up is an assortment including one more paper, word art, and various characters which include some Halloween toys. When I was young, I remember going to the local 5 & Dime or pharmacy around this time of year and there would be an assortment of Halloween themed goodies kids would beg their mothers to buy. There were flavored wax vampire lips and teeth, little wax bottles filled with a super sweet fluid and other penny candy plus Halloween noisemakers, candy filled toys and other small Halloween toys. You've seen some examples of these in this kit. For some reason, vintage Halloween stuff is very desirable and can be quite pricey too. Maybe because it brings back fond childhood memories for lots of adults?

Resting up and freebie
Today the four of us (me, hubby, brother & SIL) are all resting up due to our various ailments. Weather changes and all the stuff we've been doing this week caught up with us. Got in touch with Tosha to have her make my brother a magnesium rich body butter to see if it helps with the muscle spasms in his leg. Her little essential oil product project is going so well she is applying for a business license and will be changing the name to Eden's Garden. Great news.

Family & Halloween 2017 freebie
Today is my grandson's birthday. Happy Birthday Tyler! Plan to go see him soon.
Went over to see my brother, Thom, and Roberta before going for a bone density scan. They have figured out that the POD will not hold everything they want to take back to Florida so they will have to make another trip up here. They will be headed home in about a week to do some de-cluttering in their home there so they can put their house on the market. That house was built in the 20's and it's a lot of upkeep. They haven't decided yet whether they will move some place else in Florida, move to North Carolina to be near their son, Bryan, or move back to Virginia. There was some talk about buying Dad's house but I doubt that will happen. We got a lot of stuff out yesterday and Roberta is going to call to arrange a pick-up of two sofas. Once those are out we will do some re-arranging of what's left, tagging the larger items we want and can't remove right now, then we will put up the house for sale sign. And the lawyer will get the Medicaid app in and we will see where things go from there. After my scan, I stopped back over and picked Thom and Roberta up so we could all go visit Dad.
Dad doesn't communicate much any more. We offered to take him outside to the courtyard for some fresh air but he was in bed and content to stay there. Did a little re-arranging in his room, trying to make things easier for him and Thom promised we would be back tomorrow. Don't know if I will be going back over as I have a lot of things I need to do here.
Anyway, you are here for more of Halloween 2017, aren't you? Today we will do witchy and I have a busy preview for you:

Drop off duties and freebie
So tired. Major weather change here had me waking up with swollen eyes, stuffy head, and tight chest. Hot shower helped a lot. Paid bills. That's a never ending task. Went over to Dad's house and Thom loaded my car up with stuff to go to Salvation Army store. Roberta and I got all that taken care of, then headed over to Sam's Club for a few things. Thom stayed at the house to contact Terminix about the dehumidifer under the house which is running constantly. He's going to handle closing out Dad's credit card accounts. I would never have given that a thought but in chatting with Kristy the subject came up. Thanks for that tip! Took a little break at Sam's for drinks and pretzels and after shopping called it a day. Came home to the smell of eggplant frying; waiting for Eggplant Parmesan to come out of the oven.

Midweek and things are so-so + freebie
Today my husband and I went over to Dad's house to help Thom and Roberta go through more stuff. Thom was in bed with pain issues. My husband and I picked up some things that had been set aside for us. Thought my SIL looked like she could stand a break so suggested we go on a TJ Maxx and Marshall's run. Roberta loves herbal tea (I brought over a baggie of various types for her), we both are interested in essential oils and both stores often have things we can't find elsewhere. Took Roberta to lunch at Olive Garden before shopping. I found a soap bar that combines pink clay and rose essence, and picked up a new bottle of tea tree oil. I don't care for the scent but it is very useful. Roberta found a ginger tea (she loves ginger) and got some lavender oil. Did a lot of talking, both of us learning things we hadn't known previously. No word on Dad so will probably go over to see him tomorrow.
And for today we go with orange and black:

Day out and freebie
Today I took time off from Dad matters to spend time with my husband. We went to see Tom Cruise's movie American Made. It was enjoyable. Afterwards we picked up some pepperoni bread at Glory's Bakery. Today my brother started tackling Dad's garage. Dad used to be so fastidious about it, everything in it's place and he hasn't been working in the garage for some time now due to health issues so I would have expected it to be mostly orderly. Not so. My brother said he brought in a shovel to clear the floor! He has been sorting out hand tools and power tools etc. all day. We talked about having a yard sale of the tool stuff he doesn't want. Tomorrow I will go back over, finish going through remaining photos, discuss yard sale idea, and do some more sorting and moving. Have a bunch of stuff ready to be loaded into my car and taken to Salvation Army. Just a few minutes ago the nursing home called to tell me Dad saw doc this morning because he is congested. He always has sinus trouble this time of year so that may be all there is to it but they are putting him on a decongestant for 2 weeks and doing nebulizer treatments. A chest x-ray will be taken in the morning to make sure nothing else is going on.

Monday: Memories, Money & freebie
Today I went over to Dad's house to meet with my brother and his wife, Roberta. I took over a box into which I had emptied Dad's safe contents months ago. At the time, the safe was unlocked and I couldn't locate the combination so felt it safer to move contents out of an empty house in case of break-in. Some time after that, I found a copy of the safe combination which I copied today and took over. I'd long ago sorted out the important papers stored there to accomplish legal matters. What remained in the box were a few nice pieces of Mom's jewelry and Dad's coin and silver certificate collection. We were both agreeable when it came time to divide the money items and that worked out pretty evenly with just a couple items we need to have assessed. There were two tiny ruby rings (Mom's birthstone) so we each took one to hold for our grand-daughters. That left the 50th anniversary diamond ring (marquise stones) and a lovely string of pearls. We decided we will have those items assessed for value and, if possible, sell them to put money in Dad's nursing fund.
Next came boxes and boxes of the loose photos Dad had removed from frames and albums. My brother has some memory problems due to his strokes so didn't recognize some photos, especially early photos of people he did know in more recent shots. There were lots of photos of people neither of us knew, bad shots and so on that went into one pile. Photos of his family and him as a child in another, photos of my family and younger me in another. Some photos of our parents had duplicates or similar poses as did some of our grandparents. But there was a large pile of photos we would both like to have and will have copies made of. I wrote names and approximate dates on the backs of the photos to help Thom. Finally at 6 p.m. I had to call a halt since John expected me for dinner at that time.
Tomorrow I will be taking a break from the sorting as I have a "date" with my husband for movie and dinner out. A good day for Thom to look into those appraisals and go see Dad again. Funny how taking a stroll down memory lane can be so tiring.
Today more purple but with a skeleton theme:

On the home front and Saturday freebie
Yesterday my brother and his wife went to see Dad. Earlier today when we talked about that visit, it was clear he was delusional at times. He told them his girlfriend had died and he was a pallbearer. They didn't know what to say and then he said, But I know that's not true because she is here. (In same nursing home as he is - Not) He also said he'd been walking up and down the halls and would be starting physical therapy again soon. He cannot walk unassisted and barely then. No more physical therapy. Naturally my brother was disturbed.
We've made some progress on the house, but there is so much to be done! I'm going over tomorrow to work most of the day. Today was devoted to getting ready for dinner with our grandson who was home from college for a few days. My husband made Tyler's favorite meal - chicken parmesean with a side dish of spinach and potatoes cooked with garlic and a little olive oil. Afterwards, we watched baseball together as we talked bcause my husband's favorite baseball team, the Yankees, was in playoffs. Tyler will head back to University of South Carolina tomorrow but we plan to see him the end of the month around the time of his birthday.
Today's zip of Halloween 2017 is a little bump in the night with ghost and costumed character of the grim reaper.

Friday freebie
It's about 3:30 a.m. and I just got home from visiting with brother and his wife over at Dad's house. The delay getting here this time was need for SIL to have emergency oral surgery for an abcess. It was bad enough to require a bone graft! Will be spending most of day with them today, visiting Dad and working in the house. Thom has already done a good bit of sorting and throwing out stuff. Much more to do.

Thursday freebie
Doesn't it figure? Everything is happening at once. Grandson Tyler was supposed to get in from college last night; we expect a call telling us which night he will be coming for the chicken parm dinner hubby promised him. My friend, Joyce is due in tomorrow from North Carolina. She's coming in to stay with our friend, Mary (Queen of our Red Hat group) and go to an event. Hoped to meet with her for lunch while she is here but my schedule is going to be tight for awhile. Brother Thom and his wife, Roberta, got into town last night. Have no idea what the delay was but they want to meet to discuss all that needs doing at Dad's house. Today I have to focus on cleaning my house because it's awful. Got to at least get the front (visible) part done.

It's all about the candy . . . (freebie)
* Sorry about error - link fixed
Today I'm grateful for cooler temperatures. Would have been a good day to go to Dad's house and work but I just wasn't up for it. Feel exhausted and sure, some of it is this cold, but I think it's mostly weariness of heart. I know, just have to suck it up and do what needs doing. Sometimes easier said than done. Have a regular folowup with my primary care doc tomorrow - typical blood tests and so forth - and will talk to him about this exhaustion but doubt he will find anything amiss. Among other things, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Immune Disorder Syndrome years ago - it has a new name now - and that seems to go hand in hand with fibro so maybe that's what's going on. At heart, I think this malaise is probably more about not being able to do more for Dad and feeling abandoned by my brother and his wife. I'm at the point right now that if they do call, I really don't want to talk to them. Don't want more excuses and I sure don't want to hear what a nice visit they are having with my nephew's family and how Bryan has taken them here or there or whatever. That sounds petty on my part but at least I'm being honest. That's the end of my whining - for today at least - and on to something more cheerful.
Dressing up for Halloween is fun but it's really all about the candy, isn't it? So sad that the world has gotten so ugly we fear our children going door to door, even in our own neighborhood. And parents must warn children not to eat a thing until the parent carefully examines everything a child brings home. I'm old enough to remember being invited into known neighbor's houses to rest a bit and have some punch and a cupcake or cookies before going on to collect more candy. We would get whole chocolate bars, not minis. (The price on chocolate this year is crazy!) It seems we'd have candy for weeks. Our Moms insisted on taking a portion and setting it aside (hiding it lol) for a later time. Everyone got into the act, with adults dressing up to escourt their children around. Now it's illegal many places for anyone over 12 to wear costumes on the street. One Halloween when I was in elementary school my Uncle Bobby (Dad's eccentric, artsy younger brother) dolled up his Volkswagon Beetle with lips and eyelashes; he and his wife dressed up as Beatniks and drove around everywhere. Another time, when I was in high school and had a Halloween party (where I met my husband for the first time), Uncle Bobby showed up on stilts dressed as a goul. He was such fun! But I'm babbling. Dreary Monday and freebie
Weather is wonky - drizzling and grey, cooler temps at night. Spent a croupy night, chest tight and coughing. Hot tea, essential oils, steamy shower. Finally got some sleep after 10 a.m. Ditching on dinner out with hubby's fellow retirees. Now just have to figure out what we will have for dinner.

Late post for Saturday freebie
Once again, I'm seriously late. Yesterday (Saturday) went to visit my Dad and take him a few things. He looked good, was sitting up, watching TV. That went smoothly. Went over to his house and worked several hours, boixng clothing for thrift store, boxing up movies that might sell at a yardsale, cleaning out drawers in the main bathroom vanity. Stopped at store to pick up a few items. Came home in drizzle, damp to skin, with a headache coming on. Gave up and went to bed. By the time I got up and ate a little cereal, it was near midnight.

After midnight so Tuesday freebie
Lost another day to headache. Today I'll have to double up on things early on as we will meet with Sissy & John for dinner. No word yet from brother. I assume they are in NC, but who knows? I'm so overwhelmed by condition my home is in that I'm fantasizing about tossing everything out, having a demolition cleaning team come in while I escape somewhere and then coming back to start over. Keep telling myself it didn't get like this overnight and isn't going to improve overnight. Then I have to add in visiting Dad time and taking care of all his stuff. One day things will be better, right?
I know I'm all over the place with the Halloween kit but it's all Halloween and should somehow work together.
