Last of cherry Blossom

Sorry to be late. went to lunch yesterday with my old lunch buddies. First time in months. Started having pressure behind my left eye and headed home because migraine was coming on. Took meds and headed to bed but it didn't let up until after huge storm with lots of thunder and torrential rain. By the time I got up I'd forgotten it was Tuesday.

Free cherry Blossom papers

Have my grand-daughter staying with us this weekend. Friday, when my husband picked Larkin up, he took her fishing for the first time. He said she sort of enjoyed it but it was so hot out they didn't last long. Will try again on a cooler day. The child came with so much stuff this time! 3 dolls and their clothes, some stuffed animals, and a couple books. She has become better at entertaining herself for longer periods (thank heaven!). As part of our tea time lunch today, I introduced her to mini quiche. She liked the Quiche Lorraine better than the Quiche Florentine and loved the raspberry tea. After lunch she agreed to reading for 15-20 minutes but we ended up doing 35 minutes. So happy, as she used to hate to read.

Here are the rest of the papers for the Cherry Blossom kit.

Cherries anyone?

Another triple digit day. Thankfully, I need not go out except as far as down into the garage to do some laundry. That will be hot enough! Lately, I have been taking advantage of great sales on fresh, sweet cherries. I love them so. Straight from the refrigerator they are cool, refreshing and just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. Happened to remember I'd made a cherry themed kit some time ago and went looking for it. Took a while. Made it in 2010 when I was selling in a store and don't think I've ever shared it with you. So that's what I'm going to do starting today.

Last of Lets Go Fishing

Triple digit heat again today. Yesterday I had errands to run, starting with an appointment at 1:00 pm. 2 banks, and 3 grocery stores later, I was home, soaked to the skin, red in the face, over-heated and out of breath. Have been lazy today. It is crazy that some normal things are hard to find now. Lettuce, for instance (unless you find a rare small head of organic for over $2), Alfredo sauce (too hot to mess with making my own). The lettuce I kind of understand. In this heat, many people want nothing more than sandwiches and cold tea. That would satisfy me but my husband wants "real" meals most of the time. Not complaining as he is a great cook and has been doing most of the cooking lately.

So, here ends Let's Go Fishing:

Having trouble with my display driver so don't know what is going to happen with that. I am working on next kit, which I'd thought would be for August. Not sure what I will have for you in the meantime.

Free Lets Go Fishing zip 8

AC got fixed Wednesday afternoon for a little under $900.00. Glad that is done. Several other big To-Dos ahead. We live on a main street and the house has settled and has some problems from huge heavy trucks going down the road so I've got to set up 2 appointments for estimates on foundation repair. Need new mattress but because of how everything is situated I've got to clear pathway into next room so they can manipulate the item once we buy it. And there is some estate planning to do.

Today is next to last Lets Go Fishing. *** Remember to download all zips before 7/30 when they will expire.

Almost forgot it was Saturday & freebie time!

We are going to be in 90's for about a week now with it feeling like triple digits. No word yet on AC parts & repair day. Thank heaven, it is still working although making noise as it gets over heated. No blown circuit breaker yet today but we know it is causing electric useage to be up. Didn't sleep well last night so just groggy and out of it. Did get the monthly ATC Challenge set up over at the Magnolia Gardens Scraps Challenge page on FB. My friend had one of the designers go postal after a TOU debacle and the woman messed up a lot of stuff on the FB page including the ATC challenge announcement & album, so last night I had to redo it.

However, I do have zip 6 for you:

Another part of Let's Go Fishing

We got the call today about AC. The bearing in the fan are going causing it to freeze up. When it blows circuit breaker, we were told to let it sit a few minutes, then cut it back on and it would work until parts come in. So far, so good on that. It's going to cost about $1,000 to fix because one fan blade is broken too and for some odd reason. blades come separate? Anyway, good it's staying cool at the moment. Went to grocery store earlier and nearly fainted in the parking lot. Got stuff in car then sat in front of AC on high until revived to drive home. Once I'd had some water, I got out of hot clothes and crashed in bed for a few hours.

Discovered I have more than enough elements for current kit so am stuffing extras in next few zips. Here is today's:

More of Lets Go Fishing freebie

Yesterday was our 24th wedding anniversary. My husband and a friend went fishing at 6:30 am but were home by about 10:00am. It was so hot and humid, my husband got nauseous and dehydrated. Only caught one pan size catfish which he released. Once home, he was trying to cool off and was feeling better when we both noticed it was getting hotter inside the house. The AC went out and it would be Wednesday before a tech could come out. That ended plans for the dinner I was going to make. We cut on all the fans in the house and tried to nap for awhile. I ran up to Arby's later for sandwiches and indulged in orange milkshakes for both of us. That helped cool us off. I'd gotten my anniversary gift early as had he. When we got married (we'd been previously married to other people), my son was in college and I was contributing to his education fund and his son moved in with us (he was in high school). The point is, I declined an engagement ring as it would be just another expense and choose a pretty floral wedding band. This anniversary I got a beautiful one caret diamond solitaire that goes well with my wedding band. What did he get? An assortment of fishing gear he ordered for himself.

Strangely, today the AC popped on (after blowing circuit breaker twice yesterday) so it is tolerable here. Still having tech come out.

Did you have a nice 4th of July? Very different this year. And the news is troubling - rise in Covid-19 in 40 states, and more racial unrest and violence.

But on to fishing.

Happy Independence Day! More Let's Go Fishing freebie

It is 3:00 a.m. here and I am about to head fro bed. Yesterday not as productive as I'd hoped but had the pleasure of visit from grandson and his fiancee. We fed them some barbeque sandwiches as my husband had made a big batch of pulled pork barbeque the other day. He makes it so well. Got to see a photo of Sally's wedding dress. It is so pretty and soft. Since the wedding will be outdoors next May, we talked about the best shoes for her to wear and other assorted wedding details. I'd been working on re-doing the linen closet and found a batch of new dish towels I'd forgotten about. (MY MIL used to give them to me all the time.) Passed on the towels and potholders, a lovely crystal platter I've only used once (we don't entertain much), a chafing dish I've never used, and one of those hot/cold pump thermoses. Got busy loading more items to Magnolia Gardens Scraps and have quite a variety of products in there now. Doing a 50% off sale today, ending on 7/7 but don't think it would interest any of you as it is mostly re-packaged stuff I've given away here on the blog. Been ages since I sold in a store and really just doing this guest spot to give my friend more variety.

Here is today's zip of the current kit:

For those of you who might go fishing on this holiday, I wish you good catches.

For those of us in the United states of America, this is Independence Day. It will be different than usual because of Covid-19 but maybe that is just as well. Gives us time to be grateful for the blessings of this nation, time to think about those Americans suffering from racial inequality, time to think of how we can heal the rifts in our nation. I do understand why the slogan, Black Lives Matter is being promoted. ALL lives matter and until all are treated fairly and equally, we must put attention on where those difference are. I am pleased to see Native Americans voicing their pain. Their position is, I believe, worse than that of Blacks. Did you know, for instance, that the Navajo Nation has been without aid for COvid-19 testing and resources? European invaders murdered and drove Native Americans off the ancestral lands, stripped them of rights to their own languages and much more. Slavery and the Trail of Tears (one of best examples) are in the past. People can topple all the monuments they want of people who were slave owners or in any imaginable way connected with the question of slavery. But destruction of art one finds offensive cannot destroy the past nor change it. Nor can rioting or destruction of property. What we need is a constructive way to move forward together. My prayer this 4th of July is that our nation can find a path to a truly united nation.

Have a good, safe weekend.

P.S. Anyone who wants to promote the slogan Native American Lives Matter! I'm all for that.

Long Day & freebie

I'm happy to report that the latest epidural seems to be helping. I had (for me) a very productive day yesterday. Hot and very humid but I set off to a local animal shelter and delivered two bags of old linens they will use as bedding. Next on to Lidl's to pick up a few grocery items. back home, after I cooled off, I made a chocolate pie and got a lesson from ,y master chef on making the Eggplant Parmesan I love so much. It was so good! Leftovers tonight! Next I re-packaged some of the kits I've been giving away here and loaded them to the new server at Magnolia Gardens Scraps. Before bed I was able to add those loaded products into the store with the help of my friend, Echo, the store owner. After so many years I'd forgotten all the steps needed to make the products appear. Right now if you were to check the store, under Special Guest you would find about 10 of my products. I'm only obligated to 10 for the month but the whole purpose (for me at least) is to provide some variety for Echo's customers so I have some more I will add.

How nice to receive comments saying that Let's Go Fishing is pleasing you! Today's zip is related to fly fishing and Saturday's (ready to go) is about ocean fishing.

Hope you like it.

Had my annual eye exam today. Driving home with dilated eyes was tough and tiring. Hoped to post earlier than this but needed a long nap to let my eyes adjust.
