More of Glimpse of 1900s

Thank you for all your kind comments about the current kit and thoughts on the one to come. I am fortunate to have been offered a crazy deal from a huge resource source for graphic design and am having so much fun searching through to find things I might be able to use to create kits. My son and DIL have 4 cats so cats catch my eye, so those cute cats at the resource called to me. When I go to visit their home, they have to do heavy duty cleaning and I have to take my Benedryl because I am allergic to cat dander. They don't have the kind of cats like the cartoon I'll be using in next kit. They have big fluffy "Ragdoll" cats and a flame point Siamese. What pleases me is that none of their cats is the sort that insists on climbing all over people, clawing pants, rubbing up against you or begging to be petted. They used to have 5 cats but one, Rags (another Ragdoll) was older and died last year. Rags was, as my son says, 'Very Zen.' He was super calm and could size people up and figure out how much interaction you wanted. Rags and I became buddies such that he would lie on the arm of the sofa beside me when we were watching a movie. He didn't demand attention, was just there for if and when I wanted to pet him. And he loved popcorn! He would give me a certain look when he'd like to have some of mine and I'd set a piece or two in front of him to eat and he'd purr. Rags is missed by all. I had a totally useless day after a rough night. Slept way late and accomplished nothing. Browsed my resources and downloaded some cool things for later on. Ordered pizza for dinner. Tomorrow (today when you read this) I'm going to have to get busy and clean and cook. Here is zip 9 of current kit. Do remember that these links will disappear September 1. Part 8 Glimpse of 1900s

Been busy packing up the zips for next kit, Marmalade Cat. But here today we are up to zip 8 of 10.
Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s086mqjtm9d31te/ws_Glimpse1900s_8.zip?dl=0 Do you want a teaser for next kit? Unbelievably, I forgot to include the cats in the main element folder so that when I portioned everything out, I kept saying to myself, 'Something is missing!.' I looked through every folder and it came to me - only saw one cat, attached to a frame for a tag. Hmm. Then I looked at the overall preview and the seperate el preview and sure enough no cats! No worries, I simply added one to the preview with a tiny note saying 'More cats inside." Then added cats to the other zips. It worked out okay lol. Here is a preview of the adorable cats you will find in the kit you will be able to see why I called it Marmalade Cat.
Still too darn hot here. Not cooking today. Heading out in few minutes to Bahama Breeze to pick up one of their vegan tropical salads. Cool, refreshing, yummy. Hugs to all!

Late Check-in & zip7

Got a few things done today but didn't get back to the computer 'til now. Thanks for comments and thoughts on other possible kits. There will be a little Halloween kit - not gory or scary (I don't klike that either) and it is probably going to feature some more owls, different than those in the kit I made for Magnolia Gardens Scraps. BTW that store is struggling to survive in this economy with so much competetion. May I suggest, if you are searching for some scrapbook something, that you give the store a look see? There are a number of sales going on and you just might find something you love. https://www.magnoliagardensscraps.com/ My reader in the Netherlands (I hope I'm remembering correctly) suggested a kit about seagulls and I am looking into that. I live near the Chesapeake Bay which is on Atlantic coast. I imagine my shore is different than yours but I do not know for sure. Here in Virginia and further South, our shores are mostly sandy while up North and across on the Pacific coast, the shores tend to be rocky. And now your zip.

Glimpse of 1900s & What I'm calling this August

We are 2/3 through the month of August and I'm "officially" calling it the Month Of Fix & Repair. Got my new range hood in yesterday and it is so nice. Our friend, Tommy C came over as promised, in the poring rain. I was trying to rest and get rid of a headache. About to go crazy because of all the noise which sounded like doors opening and slamming. Turns out he had to hammer out a panal on the back of the hood because that is where the exhaust goes through in our case. (THese things are made with punchable panals to accomodate two types of exhaust placement.) When that was done, he went out to garage to finish up work on the light fixture that hangs over washer and dryer. It is now bright as can be out there. However, the lights at the other end of the garage went out. They had been working last time he was here, so he checked into that. That one is simple. Just needs a new switch. The day before the ice maker delivered a load of ice and water onto the kitchen floor, We'd been having trouble for a couple days and hubby had been trying to locate and fix the problem without luck. Called in an appliance repair guy. Nothing else wrong with freezer or fridge. He was young and very nice. He told us it was both the ice maker and the valve and repairs and parts would be about $400 which is almost half a new fridge. He suggested we either buy a stand alone ice maker or some ice trays and continue to use our fridge until the compressor goes. He thinks we will get another 3 years or so out of it. Hubby uses a lot of ice and was not happy. No counter space for a ice maker so he decided to try to find replacement parts on his own. He found another ice maker and put it in, waited the requisite time for it to get cold and turned it on. Woke to water on the floor this morning. Apparently, it is the valve, something we can't fix on our own. We are out the cost of the ice maker kit (unrefundable) and cost of repair visit. I just ordered silicone ice trays from Amazon. THe high heat continues despite thunderstorms and short lived downpours. We are eating simple meals to avoid adding more herat to the house. Tonight, Ill head out to get some take-out food. And how are things where you are? I hear a lot of the US is struggling with this intense heat with some areas experiencing brown-outs. Then there are the tropical storms off coast. Will be happy to be cooler, dryer weather. But here is what you came for, part 6 of kit:

Doesn't help that you are and continue to be under a great deal of stress trying to care for your parents. Please take care of yourself (you are saying, Do I have a choice? Right?) Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers/ Hugs!

Glimpse of 1900s part 2

I'd meant to post earlier today but had a doctor's appointment (just routine) and then a stop at grocery. The heat got to me. With hish humidity and temperature it was over 100 degrees. Came home, got out of damp clothes, washed up and crashed for several hours. But here is part two and I want to thank you all for the kind comments so far.

Glimpse of the 1900s

Sorry I didn't manage to post on Saturday. It took forever to label and package the new kit. The rest of my time was spent on household stuff anf emailing son to check on him. In addition to all the pain he's having with his neck, he has developed kidney stones. I guess you can tell by last post that this kit is not going to be a beach themed or otherwise summer one. I figure there are enough beachy freebies out there so went a different way. I didn't come up with a great title so I'm just calling it a Glimpse of the 1900s, The kit has 20 full size papers and 71 elements. Overall preview:
As you can see, it is pretty crowded. Here is a preview of just the papers:
And the elements (sorry they are tiny):
Yes, the elements only preview is mislabeled but I'm not going back to fix it since it is just to give you an idea of what is included. Zip 1 today (no rhyme or reason to what is in each zip): Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8yn2z29lymj93sb/ws_Glimpse1900s_1.zip?dl=0

Thursday's post late

This was supposed to go up yesterday as your freebie but the figures took me longer to e4xtract and re-color than I expected. Although a seperate item, this is an add-on to the big kit I am working on. Hadn't intended it to be such a big kit but it seems everytime I think I'm there, I decide something is missing. Hope to start it here tomorrow.

Gloomy with a side of templates

It's gloomy here in Norfolk. Heavy gray skies with sprinkles now and then. Not so hot out but the humidity is super high. Went to the grocery and when I came back in the house, I felt wet to the skin. I am working on a new kit but it is going slowly. For today I have a set of page templates for you.
