Printing reminder: If you are going to print your pages, you might consider using a heavier weight than typical computer paper. Or if you print on regular paper and want to keep as pages in a looseleaf binder, than consider putting the pages into plastic cover sheets. That's what I typically do. Be sure to set your printer to print edge-to-edge.

See you again on Saturday.
Hugs,
SherryD

Router problems and more Mermaid Journal

We've been having computer problems, not being able to get on internet and finally figured out it was the router. BIL replaced it (He was the one who figured out the problem) and all seems good now. At least until we try to pull up Netflix on the TV, then who knows.

Anyway, I was trying to stick to light colored backgrounds to make journaling easier to see and also to save ink for thosse who might want to print. But this paper, I lightened it a little but can't lighter it more or the fish don't stand out. Since I really wanted to use this paper and I'd already taken a plain stamp and made it into a frame what goes well with the paper, I was determined to use them. Now you might have some pages that have mostly photos or sketches etc and the paper would be a fine background for those. But if you want to write, hmm. You could just cut shapes from lighter papers to journal on but I thought a ready to use journal spot might be helpful so made one from the same basic stamp as the frame. Hope you like.

On the mend and more Mermaid Journal freebie

Not quite sure what's been going on with my health but think things are improving. Back is almost pain free, and headache today has been minimal and probably just due to barometric pressure changes since we've had storms off and on for days. What have I been doing? It won't sound like much but it's something. I've been able to get back to the pool to exercise twice this week already. While my husband drove down to Columbia S.C. with grandson, I thought I'd have two days to work around here but Saturday was largely a wash due to pain. Sunday was better and I managed to go through tons of paperwork, clearing out old folders of stuff from the filing cabinets and moved Dad's paperwork into their place. Made one submission to Just Art's August quote challenge and am working on another challenge. Started a journaling workshop with Kim Klassen called "Write Now." I'm a little behind but still working it. Finished Steve Berry's The Third Secret which is about the 3rd secret of the Lady of Fatima sightings, and a Kindle ebook whose title escapes me. The ebook mystery/adventure also concerned secrets in Catholic church history. Not an intentional pairing. There was also an ebook about a woman whose intuition helps her find missing children. Now reading Dawson Church's Mind To Matter. I was prepared to be dismissive of Church's book but have been impressed by the research he's done to support the material he discusses.

Today what I have for you is the first of those papers and elements I'd told you I would provide so you can make your own mermaid journal pages.

Next to last of Sleep Over freebie

I made 4 quickpages for you with examples of how I might use them. Two today and two on Thursday. Here are the first 2:
I thought it would be helpful to see how the hex frame might be used but there are other possibilities , of course.

I just can't seem to get in the mood to do another kit now so I've decided I'm going to make a series of journal pages. They will be letter size - 8.5" x 11" that you can print edge to edge if you choose to print them out. I'm working on an ocean theme with an emphasis on mermaids. (I know, here it is the end of summer and I'm just now offering something summery.) Backgrounds will be in soft colors to make them easier to journal on. Some pages will be ready to go, that is, embellished and just waiting for your text or photos. In other instances there will be background pages, word art, and embellishments so you can create the pages as you like. First should appear on Saturday.

More of Sleep Over freebie

Hot here today. Met a couple friends for lunch at Harold's then we went shopping at Heritage (a health food store) and Michael's. Picked up some of Thayer's witchhazel which is rose scented, some clay for a facial mask, and a supplement. At Michael's a favorite yarn was on sale so I bought 3 skeins in varigated blues which should be enough to make a shawl. Heat has really gotten to me today.

Here's what we have for zip 10:

Entered a competition using a free kit by Kakleidesigns that looks like this:
The challenge was to use nothing but what was included with exception of adding photos or text. No changing colors either. So I made 2 journal pages:

See you again Thursday.

Sleep Over freebie drawing to a close

In our last episode, Lexi and Madison finally gave in to sleep. Once they wake (probably around noon!) it will be time for them to pack Madison up and get her home. I decided that although the Sleep Over is technically over, I'd give you a few more zips with papers and general elements in the kit colors.
