they are not forcing you to upgrade hon, altho I can see how it might look that way. when you ask for a link to share a file, and it shows you a slot to place an email addy for some person, skip that, and look to the bottom where it says create link, and the you will see another icon/link that says copy link... you need to look closely, and maybe even have to click a couple things before you see what I am talking about, but it is there.
and be sure your share links all have the .zip?dl=0 at the end, like so...
you can even change the 0 to a 1 if you are adding the link to a purchased download like I sometimes have to do because of a weighty file. If I set it directly into my woocommerce slot where you would normally upload your product zip, it will pop up like any other download in my store when clicked... Anyway, they have not gone full premium on you, just got more confusing.
