Bat flowers for Mary

I'm not real happy with these bat flowers. They seem so awkward and many of the photos from which I extracted show the flower cut off at odd angles. I hope there is something here you can use. Maybe in some kind of arrangement?

Had nice birthday lunch with grand-daughter yesterday, her two friends, mother and other grand-mother. One of the kids was adorable. The other cute but a royal pain. She literally bounced the entire time! And was noisy and shrill. I went with a headache and needed to go to bed when I got home. Still, it was good to see Larkin.

I've heard from my son and his wife is holding up very well following her sister's suicide. They have been back and forth to Richmond and have gathered up personal items that belonged to DIL's mother and sister. DIL is stuck with all the legal proceedings to come and it is a tangled mess but they are working on it diligently.

Haven't heard anything more from my friend with the new store. After talking to her partner they may have decided that it is too much trouble to set me up as a guest designer. Doesn't matter. I'm back to my art challenges.

More Lovely Friends

Had a little more energy today so got a few things done. Nothing much, mind you, just a couple loads of laundry, and some vacuuming. Vacuuming is tough for me so I consider that a big deal lol. Grandson and future bride are away this weekend for a friend's wedding. Son & DIL once again in Richmond trying to settle more of her sister's affairs. Husband and I would so love to take a little road trip but some states quarentine visitors for 14 days if they stay over so that is out. Grand-daughter turned 10 on the 6th but was away visiting her aunt so tomorrow she is having a surprise party to which we have been invited. It's turned hot and humid here so I can only hope I'll have some energy when I get back home and can get a couple things done.

Most of Saturday I was texting back and forth with son about what has to be done to clear up DIL's sister's estate. DIL and son will be doing it all as her father hasn't a clue what to do.

Did follow-up on epidural today. Because it did the most for left side,and I still have throbbing, stabbing pain on left, I'll go in for another injection on 6/25. While out that way made appointment for my eye exam, then stopped for groceries on way home. Hot and humid today, making it difficult for me to breathe. About ready to take a lie-down. Had grandson and his fiancee over for dinner on Thursday. Nice visit. Cheered me up some. Forget to get this post up for you.

Have had floating anxiety all day today so haven't accomplished much. Don't know what is causing it but it is similar to when my intuition is trying to warn me of something. Praying my son & DIL get back home safely. Jeremy said he'd call me tonight to fill me in on everything. Maybe I'll feel better when I know how much extra responsibility is going to fall on Berkeley's shoulders in terms of handling her sister's affairs.

Looks like I will be going into a shop again. My friend, who designs now as Midnight Velvet, has a new shop called Magnolia Gardens Scraps.

I didn't want to make a long term commitment but she is agreeable to me doing a guest spot. I'm thinking maybe for 3 months then see how it goes. Don't want to get locked into too much.

Today I've been working on a new preview template. Want real simple so not hiding much of product. Making a new logo which will go in upper right corner and think otherwise it will just be a white background with a stroked border.

Feeling blue about all the current violence and worried about any demonstrations, riots, roadblocks my son & DIL may face as they drive down to Virginia at the end of the week. Hasn't Covid_19 been enough?

Re flower requests & family news

SO happy to hear that the astrantia fulfilled a wish. Mary requested 2 more flowers I wasn't familiar with: jade vine & black bat flower. I really like the color of the jade vine, which is also called dragon claws and have found some examples but it will be a challenge to extract, so expect it to take a while. The bat flower is described variously as a lily and an orchid. It goes by several names including black spider flower and cat whiskers - both alluding to all those long whiskery trailing parts. Another challenge to extract.

Meanwhile I've been working a little with a designer resource that features spunky little girls and hoped to get that to you this week. But yesterday I spoke with son and DIL and learned to DIL's older sister (I hardly knew her) died unexpectedly on Saturday and circumstances aren't completely known. Son & DIL live in Pennsylvania but her sister was here in Virginia. DIL will need to help her father with final arrangements. I've offered my services in any way so am in touch with them waiting to see what is to be done. Might mean a delay with blog but I'm sure you understand.
