First, my heart & prayers go out to those in the Twin Cities area where violence broke out yesterday. I just heard a news report saying that the instigators were not from the local area! I regard this as an act of terrorism on our soil, an attempt to stir up racial tension and take advantage of an atmosphere of anxiety, financial hardships, and anger. Isn't it bad enough we have had such devastation to our physical and mental health due to the current pandemic? And why stir up racial tension anyway? Sure, there is a historical basis but it is really ridiculous to think in terms of race. "Race" is just a social construct used to explain differences in appearance and ethnic backgrounds. Scientists have shown that the oldest human DNA was found in Africa and the apparent differences we see among "races" are the results of evolutionary conditioning to environmental factors and cultural training. Ethnicity makes sense, race doesn't. Sorry, a little sociological rant. BTW, last night, here in Virginia, protesters got up on the interstate outside the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and blocked off traffic. Helpful to anything? NOT!

On to brighter things. I asked about flowers you might want in digital form and a dear reader from The Netherlands introduced me to a new flower, Astrantia Major Buckland (Zeeuws Knoopje in Dutch). I love to research so set to it immediately. Among other things, I learned that there are many varieties of this flower and it is called by multiple names, including Masterwort. Here is what Wikipedia says:
Astrantia is a genus of herbaceous plants in the family Apiaceae, endemic to Central, Eastern and Southern Europe and the Caucasus. There are 8 or 9 species, which have aromatic roots, palmate leaves, and decorative flowers.
The flowers can be described as star-like with a center area resembling a delicate pincushion. It took a while to find clipart or images easy to extract, but I managed to find a few. Never did find one with Buckland as part of the name and not knowing the color, didn't know how elese to find it.Not sure if this is what's wanted but the best I can find. I also learned this flower is a popular motif in Dutch jewelry.

Oh wow! Thank you very much for this wonderful gift and surprise.
It is true that the "Zeeuws Knoopje" (or Knopje according to some other people) is also a traditinal jewelry design here (I live in Zeeland in The Netherlands). I make Zeeuwse Knoopjes myself from polymer clay and make cards with them and also small gifts. Just for today that is why I include the link to my community website (not a webshop!).
The Zeeuws Knoopje is really popular here with local people, Dutch people in general and tourists, mostly German and Belgian who are allowed outside there own country again from this weekend.
The whole area is "alive" again as it always is during the Summer months.
Thank you again, enjoy the weekend and stay safe!

Addition, the color is exactly right! The variety people have in their gardens here is mostly Asrtantia Major Roma :-) Unfortunately the plant doesn't like it in my own garden for some reason :-(

Enjoy this lovely warm sunny (here al least) Penticost weekend!
