We were told to expect snow a couple days ago. What we got was wintery mix because we are close to Chesapeake Bay. Further inland there was some snow but not much. Funny thing, yesterday (following expected snow day) our power went out for a couple hours and it was wide spread. Don't know why. I woke up to a cooling house and a bored husband as there was no TV or internet to entertain him. Went out to brunch at IHOP and when we returned the power came on moments later.
Got a text from Sandy saying Wanda was released from the hospital on Wednesday. X-rays showed nothing damaged. Wanda refused to go to a rehab center but it would be better if she had because she is having trouble getting up and down and it is hard on Sandy helping her. The three of us are not Spring chicks and Wanda is the oldest, me the youngest. I haven't seen either of the sisters since my trip down to Georgia last year. Sandy and I hope to get together while she is up here (well, Amelia , VA) helping Wanda, but it is going to depend on how much help Wanda needs.

Belated Valentines freebie
I wanted to create something that was more modern, but this small kit is sort of mixed. Sorry I missed Tuesday post. Got a bit of bad news that threw me off. My friend, Wanda, had hip replacement surgery on Monday. Tuesday the nurse sat her up in a recliner ("for a short while") but forgot about her for three hours. Wanda fall asleep and slipped out of the chair onto the floor! Her sister, Sandy, called me (I was planning on meeting up with Sandy on Wednesday) and said they were waiting on the results of x-rays done after the fall. Our meeting for lunch was cancelled as Sandy was going to spend Wednesday up at the hospital to insure nothing further went wrong. It is now the wee hours of Friday morning and I'm just getting around to posting. I'll give you the first two zips of Purple Passion now and finish it up on Saturday.

Last of Forever Love freebie
Scheduling this post ahead because at the time it will be posting, I will be finishing up preparations for a Dolly & Me Valentine Tea with granddaughter, Larkin. She is bringing her two 18" dolls and my 18: doll (a 2nd hand buy used to create clothes for Larkin's dolls) will join us too. I even bought her an outfit and shoes at AC Moore's sale since otherwise, all she owns is a too-short dress that came with her. There will be treat bags for Larkin and her dolls (candy & other items for Larkin & a crocheted poncho and hat for one doll, a crocheted skirt and some purchased shoes for the other). The menu includes a small fruit bowl of fresh strawberries topped with creme fraiche, a heart shaped tea sandwich of cream cheese and strawberries, a mini bagel pizza for a savory (wanted mini quiche but couldn't find any), strawberry scones with mock clotted cream and strawberry jam, and for dessert pink cupcakes (I got lazy and purchased those), heart shaped cookies, and some Russel Stover candies that are white chocolate covering a strawberry soft center. It is a lot but Larkin will be here on Sunday too so we will have plenty of left-overs. Just hope my pain level recedes and energy holds out!

Forever Love freebie
The last couple of days have been rough and I've much to do before we pick up Larkin on Saturday morning. Ever since that MRI of my lumbar spine I've had low back pain and terrible spasms in my calves. May not be connected but . . . . Yesterday was a bad pain day so I didn't get anything posted. This morning we were up before the sun rose. My husband needed a dental extraction and he wanted to do the consult and surgery same day. Lots of paperwork, some waiting, a few minutes to consult. Then we had to wait an hour or so because the doc had another surgery scheduled before us. By the time we picked up the antibiotics and pain meds, it was about 1:30 p.m. when we got home. Expected husband would sleep for a few hours and I had a number of things scheduled to do. He didn't sleep and I waited on him - water, pills, jello etc. until I started fading fast. He sent me to bed and I slept about four hours.
As for the Valentines freebie I'd planned, it is no where near finished so I'm going to give you a small kit I did for a blog hop some years back. We will see what develops from there.

Busy week & more of Winter Frost freebie
Did follow-up at pain management today. No question I will be seeing them again. Got an e-mail of the radiologist reading of lumbar MRI and there are definitely reasons I have lower back pain. But my appointment with the spine doc isn't until the end of the month.
My friend, Debbie W, is going to go ahead with the preventive chemo. Turns out there is a small spot on her other lung - too small for them to do anything with right now but the assumption is it is another tumor. I've been making a list of comfort items I can put into a tote bag for her - things I know chemo patients need like lip balm, Biotene, something to read, lotion etc.
And here is today's zip:

Tuesday freebie of Winter Frost
Today's MRI of lumbar spine seemed to go on forever! The last ten minutes or so, I was getting frantic because of a painful spot in my back. Could have just been how I had settled on the table. I was so happy to get out of there! Ran a couple errands and that was about all I accomplished today. Here is your next zip of Winter Frost:

Busy week. One of my ladies who lunch group is recovering from surgery for lung cancer and was supposed to see an oncologist the end of last week to talk about "Preventive chemotherapy" about which she had mixed emotions. She's got a lot of pain and is pretty depressed, which isn't surprising. So tomorrow a few of us are taking her out to lunch at Bahama Breeze and try to lift her spirits. Debbie W is a very nice, hard working woman. I'm keeping her in my prayers but, having been through this with several family members doubt that even with being told "they got it all" and with chemo, the out come will be positive.

More Winter Frost freebie
Will have Larkin (granddaughter) with us today. She is looking forward to a lunch of Papa's Honey Barbecue Chicken Nuggets and some playtime with Nonna. We are going to surprise her by going to see the new Dr. Doolittle movie. Have to make sure she eats lunch early because she must have buttered popcorn and a cherry Icee at the show. Which means it will be difficult to get her to eat some dinner (making goulash) before we take her home. But they are only young once, right?

And what are you up to at this time? I completed all but 3 of the January challenges at Just Art. Read the Kerry Lonsdale Everything series (a triology) and a few other books. Working my way through a book of short stories, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King. Still on a crochet kick, so much so that I just bought a wooden yarn bowl (tired of makeshift tucking a yarn ball into a tote bag stuff). Completed another doll poncho and hat and a skirt of my own design. Those will be party favors for Larkin at our Valentine's Tea. Also bought Valentine themed knee socks and short socks from Dollar Tree to try making doll leggings and a top from them. Currently crocheting a baby sweater for my pulmonologist's PA who is expecting her first baby (girl) in April. I'm using a vintage chevron pattern my Mom used to make a baby sweater for me, then one for my baby doll when I was older. I loved that doll sweater so much I asked her to make the pattern for my baby. Since Brittney (the PA) won't likely need a sweater for her daughter right away (and you get so many newborn things anyway), I'm making a 12 months size which should be about right when the weather turns cool again.
Aside from the fun stuff, I'm gathering tax information and am about ready to file taxes. Have to finish gathering documents to take to attorney for estate planning. Need to buy new mattress, have kitchen faucet replaced. Tuesday is MRI for lumbar spine and Thursday a follow-up with doc who did epidural. Thats the plan for February so far.
Stay warm and safe. You are a wonderful group of ladies!
