Another Monday, Some New Products
Hope you all enjoyed my little Halloween gift. I'll leave links up until 11/1 just in case someone missed a day.
That McCormick's Bourbon Spiced Pork recipe I told you about the other day? My husband loved it. When I plated up slices of the pork, one of the baked apple halves, a scoop of the sweet potatoes and added some snap beans, it made for a colorful fall serving. If you like spicy, I think you'd enjoy the recipe and it's pretty easy. The hardest part for me was chopping the peeled raw sweet potatoes into cubes. I have bad reflux so my plate had smaller portions of everything and while I liked the taste, it wasn't long before the heat in the spices began to get to me. For myself, maybe half the spice packet would be okay. But hubby has eaten the leftover fruit and veggies and some of the pork. Still have a little left to slice for sandwiches. All in all, not a bad experiment.
Since I'm leaving all but Digi Style Designs at the end of the month, all new products are only going into Digi Style. At present we have a Create_a_Kit that is running October through November, called Harvest Moon. Here are a few things I added yesterday.
This one, Pumpkin Head Girls was just put in Halloween category. The heads are based on some 1920's flapper style pumpkins I saw. These are a little on the primitive side but I thought they were fun and would be cute on party invitations or pages.
I really like the soft patina of vintage metals like brass, but especially copper. So I made a few stilllife arrangements for the Harvest Moon CAK.
Then I got to thinking, What's a Harvest Moon kit without a moon? I hadn't seen any in the category, so I went into my Victorian scrap and vintage image files and pulled every moon I could find, played with them and packaged them up. Traditionally, a harvest moon is a full moon that occurs on a certain Saturday of the year. Usually it has a yellow, sometimes orange appearance. But I'd found a cute Halloween crescent moon and couldn't resist including that too.
You can find all of these products and more in my Sher Scraps 4 Cu store at Digi Style Design here:

Working on a few more Harvest Moon products that should be in store by Wednesday. Until then, enjoy fall yall.
Just A Little Spooky - the end!
Got candy? Halloween is almost here. Are your little goblins and ghouls ready to suit up? I hope you get a full bag of treats and no tricks.
Here is the last part of Just A Little Spooky:

Sorry - link expired.
Hope you have enjoyed this. If I hear anything good, I'll try to do something every month from now on. I know it's been ages since I've kept up my blogging and given out freebies.
Hugs to all!

Finally fall weather!
Have you seen the new McCormick gourmet recipe and spice packets? I'm trying one today. It's called Bourbon Spiced Pork. The spice mix definitely has dried red peppers in it - can't say for certain what else. You add brown sugar to the mix, use 1/4 cup as a rub on pork tenderloins (I'm actually using a nice pork sirloin roast I split in two) that you've brushed with oil. Those go into center of a shallow, foil lined roasting pan. Meanwhile you peel a couple medium sweet potatoes and halve and core a couple apples (like Gala or Fuji). The rest of the brown sugar and spice mix goes into a large bowl with 1/4 cup orange juice and is mixed well. Then you dump in the sweet potatoes (cubed into 1 inch pieces) and the apple halves and toss. Arrange the apples around the roasts cut side down, add potatoes and pour on any juice remaining in the mixing bowl. Bake at 425 degrees; they say for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender and pork as done as you like it. Well, it's been 30 minutes and potatoes are still tough. I'm real careful with pork too so after checking it all, I decided to cover it with foil and let it go longer. It smells really good but we'll see. Will report back with results.
Just watched Ohio State's marching band's tribute to Michael Jackson. Really cool! Find it on YouTube if you like Jackson's music and you will be amazed with the moves this band makes!
I think I've got another Halloween kit that I forgot to put in stores so need to check on that later and get it in. You'll notice I removed some store blinkies. I've cut back due to health issues and am now exclusively at Digi Style Designs.
Have you seen our Harvest Moon Create-A-Kit at DigiStyle Designs? Every product follows a set color scheme so that all pieces go together. Products range from $1 - $4 so you can pick and choose just what you like. I've put a few things in under my CU line and have more to be finished. This CAK will run until the end of November and then we will have a new CAK to run December to end of January. This way it takes a little pressure off the designers during the holiday season.
And finally, I'd like to thank those who have written in to let me know they appreciate the free Halloween kit. I'll see what I can come up with for Christmas for sure. Maybe some CU items for those of you who are designers or want to try your hand at it.
Got to check on that roast!
Hugs!

Better Day & Sharing A LO & QP by my CT
Sciatica better today; shingles not. Still managed to finish a couple small projects for DigiStyleDesigns'Harvest Moon CAK:
My sweet Ct, Judy, made this page with my Watermelon Smoothie kit (little girl is granddaughter, Inara):

The Thrill Is Gone & Pain Here to Stay
After 3 miserable weeks of sciatica, I've learned I have arthritis and degenerating discs in my lower back. So now it's bad discs at cervical and lumbar spine. Naproxen, Celebrex, and lidocaine patches made no difference and I've now finished a week of prednisone which has, at least, dulled the pain. Looks like I need to spend less time at computer.
So, tonight I decided to drop back further, resigning from both Scrapping Your Memories and Your Scrap Addiction at the end of the month. I will then be selling exclusively at Digi Style Designs (a little easier for my ad person at least). I intend to stay at Digi Style to the end of the year and then re-evaluate.
Let's face it, the digital scrapbook market is glutted and considering all the hours we put into what we create, digital scrapbook designers are just making pennies for our efforts. Granted, I didn't get into this to get rich - what a laugh. I've met a lot of great people and designing distracted me from a lot of my fibro pain, gave me a creative outlet and, to some extent at least, a sense of accomplishment. But with sciatica, it's a different game as sitting (or lying down or standing for that matter) is painful.
2013 will soon be at an end anyway and I'm 62. Old age can have it's limitations and new responsibilities too. There are some projects I'd like to finish before my years are up and some business related things that need attending to. Just bought a neat little bool called When I'm Gone which gives you places to record all the information your family will need readily available when you die. No, I'm not thinking morbid thoughts, just being practical. My husband would need to know where I stashed insurance policies and so on if I pass on before him. And I need to leave notes for my son about such things as items I might want to go to a particular person, who to contact at the local quilt guild to take all my fabric and craft stuff away for use in their charity projects and so on. Heck, we haven't even had a will made yet and that is something we ought to do before the year ends. Practical things, in other words.
Meanwhile, I've gone back to my writing on a more regular basis, have some games I can play on my Kindle when I have to lie down, and planning for upcoming holidays etc. Now just to find some good low pain days to get household stuff done. Tasks have piled up these last few weeks.
